Simplicity in landscape design means there should not be too many conflicting colors, textures, lines, or masses. The structure should be clear and the feeling tone of the space apparent.

If you’re just starting out on your first landscape planning adventure, it is best to keep it uncomplicated. Follow the principles of design and use the tools carefully. You can always add on later as your gardener’s eye becomes more trained.
