About Us
You may think it’s rather unusual…
Two designers who have spent their lives creating gorgeous homes and gardens in glamorous places like the San Francisco Bay Area and “The Hamptons” on Long Island, NY now choose to live and garden with a host of critters in a meadow surrounded only by tall pine trees in a little-known place called Chatham County, North Carolina. But, nevertheless, this place completes our dream …
… we know we’ve found our home.
Our landscape architecture firm, over 25 years old and going strong, now allows us to create the dream gardens of our clients in nearby Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh. You can view our portfolio on our company’s website and also learn more about us.
This site is the result of another dream of ours; that is, the desire to share the knowledge and joy we’ve received over the years from gardens. Our hope is that more people can experience the life-changing benefits of owning an outdoor space in which they can truly feel at home. We’ve seen this time and time again with our clients.
On to the garden...

We invite you to join us and the rest of the My Ideal Garden gang as we explore the magic and wonder that can be found in the garden:
Meet the Quackers: Mo, Larry and Curly. They are our official spokesmen for MyIdealGarden.com. They came with our house when we bought it and have given us hours of joy. We can't help laughing when we watch them waddle up to us for their treat of Cheerios. When they're not busy posing for photo shoots for our site, Larry and Curly like to spend their time gliding back and forth across the pond, quacking as they go. Mo is a Muskvoy duck and is the king of the pond. Actually, he doesn't quack. He'll hiss at you until he gets to know you better and he'll take on a whole flock of geese if they come near his corn house. We wish our spokesmen would eat more of our Japanese Beetles.
‘Witch Hazel the Hummingbird, Garden Witch of Wonder,’ who points out home garden design tips that will magically transform your outdoor spaces.
‘Earl P. Mowgly, Gardener,’ who sprinkles his gardening wit and wisdom on our articles based on years of experience in the trenches.
‘Wortermer Weed’--Wort for short. He’s really not a bad plant. Wort’s just been hangin’ out in the wrong places. He’ll point out the ‘Garden Don’ts’ that take you off the path to your ideal garden. Watch out for Wort!
